About The Auctions
Our auctions are quite different
than in-person auctions. One of the best benefits we offer
is low cost and high exposure. If you consign with AlpacaSalesList.com,
there is a good chance your alpaca will sell during the auction
or shortly afterwards. You will gain a lot of exposure through
our efforts, and you might even wind up selling more alpacas
right off your farm due to the exposure you received from the auction. Where
else can you go to get the chance to sell a alpaca plus gain
tremendous exposure for as little as $300?
Consigning to our auction is competitive, especially for male alpacas.
We will accept more females than males per sale. These males
are selected from several criteria, including show
records, age, type and quality of wool, bloodlines, etc., and each selection
committee member will rank the submitted males separate from other
committee members. Each committee member's rankings are compiled
into a final score, of which up the ones may be accepted to the sale. Selection
of females is a little less competitive, but high quality is still important.
The good things about the online auctions are low fees, no stress
to the alpacas, no grooming (other than for photos/video), and no traveling
(hence, no gas, hotel, or meal fees), conservation of your time,
and bidding in the comfort of your own home. Transportation always
works out for the best, and or the alpacas. Some factors
that may lead to selling success are: farm reputation, alpaca show
records, good photos and a video, Seller's efforts in promoting
the alpaca for sale, realistic reserve prices, etc. If an alpaca has
a decent show record, this helps the potential bidders see what
judges that have seen the alpaca in person think about the alpaca.
What more proof do you need? If you send in great photos and a
video that is easy to view, it will help you out in the long run.
Having guarantees on alpacas displays that you stand behind your consignment,
and it takes away the hesitance some bidders might feel. Videos
allow a viewer to carefully observe conformation because the video
can be paused or in slow motion, etc.
Sellers are not allowed to intentionally bid on their own lots except to have the last bid if they wish..
The sellers have the option of accepting the highest bid at the
end of the sale (if reserves are being used), so keep in mind that
your bid could be the winning bid and you should bid accordingly. More
information on the auction format and instructions can be found
on the auction site.
AlpacaSalesList.com also offers
private production sales online on a first come, first served
basis. These are limited throughout the year. More information
can be found under the auction menu.
